Hello everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas weekend! Ours was spent with family and friends. Everyone had a good time. The boys received most of what they wanted from Santa, and couldn’t have been more excited to see the tree Christmas morning.
They had a blast seeing relatives from out of state and spending time with both sides of our family. Luckily the weather wasn’t too bad, so our traveling was pretty easy. Christmas Eve for both boys was filled with so much excitement and playing that they both crashed for bed nice and early. Which was good, because “Santa” had to wrap all of their presents yet! Ha!
Christmas morning was quite fun. The boys were so pumped to open all their gifts from Santa, Mom & Dad, and Grandma & Grandpa. The living room was trashed, as it should be with wrapping paper thrown everywhere!
Later Christmas morning more relatives came over and it was time for the adult gift exchange. We continued the tradition from last year of a homemade gift exchange. Each adult had to make a gift which could cost no more than $10.00. Numbers were drawn, and we each got to choose a gift to open. Last year I built a wooden 6-pack beer tote that came with a bottle opener on the side. I decided to keep with the beer theme this year and made a simple wooden bottle opener.
The bottle opener utilizes a washer placed in just the right spot to pry the cap off a bottle of your choosing. My cousin, who is a college student was the lucky recipient of this gift. I’m sure it will be put to good use. My wife made some coffee mugs with sayings she had written on them in Sharpie paint pens and then baked them to seal them.
This has become a great holiday tradition and everyone enjoys coming up with new homemade gifts to exchange. All-in-all it was a wonderful holiday weekend filled with fun for everyone.
